An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly discreet Chief Engineer to join the team of a prestigious ultra-high-net-worth private estate in West Oxfordshire.


This is a pivotal, hands-on leadership role responsible for the flawless operation and presentation of all technical, mechanical, and electrical aspects of the estate. The successful candidate will ensure that all systems operate seamlessly, anticipating issues before they arise and maintaining the highest standards expected within a luxury residential environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Take full responsibility for the integrity, performance, and reliability of all mechanical and electrical systems across the estate
  • Oversee and actively manage the Building Management System (BMS), ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and comfort
  • Supervise and support all AV/IT systems, ensuring discreet, uninterrupted service throughout the property
  • Lead a small, highly efficient engineering team, working in a hands-on capacity alongside them
  • Deliver both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and immediate reactive support to the highest standard
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the household or principals
  • Manage and liaise with specialist contractors and external service providers, ensuring quality and discretion at all times
  • Maintain meticulous records, logs, and compliance documentation
  • Uphold and enforce health & safety and statutory compliance across all engineering functions
  • Assist with procurement, budgeting, and cost control while maintaining uncompromising quality
  • Drive continuous improvement in system performance, sustainability, and operational excellence


Estate Integration & Collaboration


  • Work seamlessly with household teams, including service, housekeeping, security, and grounds staff
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, discretion, and excellence across the estate
  • Provide technical support in a calm, professional manner within a live, high-end residential environment


Candidate Profile


  • Significant experience in a Chief Engineer or Senior Engineering role within a luxury private estate, UHNW residence, super-prime property, or 5-star hospitality environment
  • Deep technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, and integrated building systems
  • Strong working knowledge of BMS and smart home technologies
  • Experience overseeing AV/IT infrastructure in high-spec environments
  • A hands-on, detail-oriented approach with a commitment to excellence
  • Ability to operate with absolute discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Calm, solutions-driven mindset with the ability to perform under pressure


Desirable Skills & Qualifications


  • Recognised engineering qualifications (City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
  • Health & Safety certification (IOSH, NEBOSH, or similar)
  • Experience working within small, high-performing teams in private environments

This role is suited to a refined, service-minded engineering professional who takes pride in delivering an exceptional, seamless environment. You will be expected to lead by example, working closely with your team while maintaining the highest levels of presentation, discretion, and technical excellence.


Location: Private Estate, Cotswolds

Salary: £75,000 per annum

Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off (alternating rotation with second engineer)

Accommodation: Optional shared accommodation available (3-bedroom apartment, approx. 12 minutes from estate)
