We are seeking an experienced, polished, and proactive Assistant Head Housekeeper to support the Head Housekeeper in overseeing the smooth day-to-day operation of a high-end private household in Central London. This is a hands-on, operational role with responsibility for upholding exceptional standards, supervising the housekeeping team, and ensuring the residence is consistently presented to a five-star level.


Supporting the Head Housekeeper


  • Deputise in the absence of the Head Housekeeper and provide full support with daily operations
  • Assist in planning schedules, task lists, and staff rotas to ensure seamless coverage and consistently high standards
  • Maintain strong oversight of daily priorities, guest requirements, and ongoing projects


Housekeeping Standards


  • Ensure immaculate presentation across all areas of the residence, including front-of-house and back-of-house spaces
  • Undertake hands-on housekeeping duties when required, including cleaning, turndown service, deep cleans, room preparation, and guest readiness
  • Oversee the correct care and handling of high-value furnishings, delicate finishes, and specialist materials


Team Supervision


  • Supervise, support, and motivate the housekeeping team on a daily basis
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff, ensuring all SOPs are consistently followed
  • Provide calm, constructive leadership and feedback to maintain a professional and collaborative team culture


Laundry & Linen Management


  • Support the delivery of high-quality laundry services, including the care of delicates, ironing, steaming, stain treatment, and appropriate garment handling
  • Maintain linen standards, rotation systems, and organised storage; coordinate with external dry cleaners and specialist providers as required


Stock Control, Organisation & Reporting


  • Monitor and replenish cleaning and household supplies, assisting with stock control and ordering
  • Maintain organised housekeeping cupboards, equipment, and storage areas
  • Identify and report maintenance issues promptly, coordinating with contractors and maintenance teams via the Head Housekeeper


Discretion & Service Excellence


  • Uphold absolute confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
  • Anticipate the needs of principals and guests, responding efficiently and calmly to requests


Candidate Profile


Essential


  • Proven experience as an Assistant Head Housekeeper or Senior Housekeeper within UHNW private households or five-star luxury hospitality environments
  • Exceptional attention to detail and consistently high standards of presentation
  • Confident supervising team members and collaborating within a larger household structure
  • Strong practical skills in laundry and garment care, including delicate fabrics
  • Discreet, trustworthy, professional, and well-presented


Desirable


  • Experience working a rota within a seven-day household operation
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including managing rotas, checklists, and stock control systems
  • Experience preparing private residences for guests, events, and principal arrivals


Schedule: 5 days per week, worked on a rota across 7 days (including some weekends). If required to work a public holiday, time off in lieu will be provided.


Salary: £60,000 per annum (starting salary)


Benefits: 3% employer pension contribution (following successful completion of a 3-month probation period), 23 days’ annual leave plus 8 public holidays per annum (TOIL provided where applicable).
