A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Junior Housekeeper to join a warm, professional, and well-run private household based in a stunning new-build home set on 50 acres in Southwold. The role offers excellent training and development, working alongside a Senior Housekeeper, House Manager/Chef, and Groundsman.
This is the perfect role for someone young, energetic, and eager to learn the highest standards of private household service. A positive attitude, integrity, and a willingness to be guided are key. The principals are looking for someone with common sense, emotional stability, and a strong work ethic - someone who enjoys working harmoniously as part of a team.
Role Responsibilities:
- Standard daily housekeeping duties: cleaning, tidying, laundry, ironing
- Cooking simple breakfasts (juices, smoothies, English breakfast), occasional requirement to prepare simple lunches and dinners when the Chef is unavailable
- Assisting with shopping, errands, and local driving duties (e.g. train station drop-offs)
- Pet care – two dogs and three cats, including walking and feeding – love of animals essential
- Support during dinner parties and evening entertaining
- Working closely with the Senior Housekeeper and learning household routines and preferences
- General household support as needed when principals are travelling
- Ad hoc tasks delegated by House Manager
Working Hours:
- Morning shift starts at 6:45am for pet care and breakfast prep
Day 1 ("Early Shift")
- Start: 6:45 AM
- Work until: 1:00 PM
- Break/Off: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Work again: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM (end time varies)
Day 2 ("Late Shift")
- Start: 9:00 AM
- Work until: 1:00 PM
- Break/Off: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Work again: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM (end time varies)
Evening presence required when the principals are entertaining
Largely Monday to Friday as the Senior Housekeeper works over the weekend, however, the flexibility to work weekends as needed is required.

Salary:
- £30,000 – £35,000 gross per annum (depending on experience)
- 20 days of annual leave + bank holidays
