We are seeking a professional, caring, and animal-loving Live-in Housekeeper, for a beautifully presented weekend residence in Henley-on-Thames. The house has 5 bedrooms, a swimming pool and beautiful gardens.

The ideal candidate will be warm, discreet, and experienced working within a private family home. This is a weekend residence for a single principal who regularly visits with her daughters and grandchildren from Friday evening through to Monday. While there are no formal childcare duties, a family-friendly and flexible approach is essential.

The Housekeeper should be confident managing all aspects of household care, including housekeeping, food preparation, shopping, and laundry. The Housekeeper’s role should make sure that the property is well looked after during the week, prepare the house ahead of the family's arrival, and ensure it runs smoothly during their stay.

A gardener visits the property 2–3 days per week. The household includes chickens, four Shetland ponies, and three alpacas, so a genuine love for animals is important.

This is a truly lovely, long-term opportunity in a stunning countryside setting, working for a kind and respectful principal who values reliability, warmth, and professionalism.

Duties outlined but not limited to: 

• General household management and upkeep
• Provision of a warm, welcoming environment ahead of family arrivals
• Errand running and shopping 
• Food preparation and light cooking for the weekend
• Laundry and wardrobe management, including linens
• Regular housekeeping to maintain the home to a high standard
• Preparing the property for weekend stays and resetting afterwards
• Liaising with external contractors and managing household supplies
• Daily care of animals: chickens, 4 Shetland ponies, and 3 alpacas
• Monitoring animal health and welfare, feeding, cleaning shelters, etc.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Previous experience as a domestic couple within a private household in a countryside setting 
• Warm, respectful, and family-friendly demeanour
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
• Animal lovers with hands-on experience in basic animal care
• Discreet, trustworthy, and self-motivated
• Drivers preferred
• Willingness to work over weekends with days off during the week

Location: Henley-on-Thames

Start Date: Early August

Accommodation: Live-in (accommodation provided) small 1 bedroom cottage on site, no pets

Hours: 9am-5pm weekdays, Friday 9am -6pm Saturday /Sunday 9am -7pm, two days off during the week. 

Salary: £40-50,000 gross per annum
